Cotton Patch Gospel is the chicken fried story of Jesus Christ set in Athens Georgia.The play takes place in multiple places but none are distinct they are simple and very abstract. The show presents a challenge of having no budget. To overcome this I would like the set to be made primarily out of pallets that I could get for free from a nearby business and using the resources from the theatre. As for the theme of the set I want the feel of warm wood pews and bright colorful stained glass windows. The space should feel organic while keeping the religious theme at the heart of the design. The sign of the cross should be obvious in the design but not over bearing. Since the show can be hard to follow I thought the use of stained glass would be nice to help the audience understand what moment of the story we are in.
